How to Opt-Out of BackgroundCheck.Run
Any individual that does not want their information available for sale or inspection on BackgroundCheck.Run can remove it by opting out of the site. Opting out removes the selected report from the site's database. A person, or an authorized agent acting on their behalf, may request to delete information from the site using the following steps:
- Search for the listing on backgroundcheck.run.
- Select and click the listing from the results of the search.
- Click "Control this Profile," available on the right side of the webpage, to open the site's opt-out page.
- The profile's URL will be automatically inserted into the URL box.
- Input a full name in the appropriate box to confirm the information belongs to you.
- Input an email address in the designated box to receive a verification link.
- Perform the CAPTCHA verification and click "Submit Opt-Out Request."
- A feedback message will appear, ascertaining the receipt of the removal request, and the site will send a confirmation link to the email used for the process.
- Check your email inbox for the confirmation link and click on it to finish the process.
Alternatively, if the "control your profile" option does not work, it is possible to manually copy the URL of the listing and input it in the appropriate box on the opt-out page. Users can also send the URL to the site's opt-out email address at ccpa@backgroundcheck.run to remove the profile.
After completing the opt-out process, the information should be removed and unavailable to users within 48 hours from the removal request was submitted.

However, removing such information does not automatically remove it from other background check sites or search engines. The information may also still be available on the public record database that BackgroundCheck.Run obtained it from unless the record has been sealed or expunged.
Furthermore, information removed from the website may reappear in subsequent search results if the source still has the record. This is because BackgroundCheck.Run updates its database daily with information collated from public records and similar sources.
BackgroundCheck.Run may also provide multiple reports relating to a person, and each report must be removed separately. This process may consume time as the user will have to perform the opt-out procedure multiple times since there is no provision on the site to delete more than one profile at a time.

The customer service team takes inquiries and complaints on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on weekends, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Individuals can also make a complaint by completing and submitting the contact form. Typically, the customer service team responds to all inquiries within 24 hours.
