How to Opt-Out of Homemetry
An opt-out request can remove an individual's information or real property details from Homemetry. However, since the information on site is generally available to the public, deleting it does not wipe it off other data broker sites or the source's records. To opt-out of Homemetry, follow these steps:
- Visit the Homemetry website.
- Use the search engine on the homepage to find the listing to be deleted.
- Click on the appropriate listing from the results.
- On the profile, search and click the "Information Control" link.
- Select the details to remove and click "Apply".
- Type your email address and name in the appropriate query boxes
- A confirmation email will be sent to the email address. Confirm your opt-out request by clicking the link embedded in the email.
Alternatively, after finding the listing to remove, copy the URL, input it into the query box on the site's Opt-Out Request page, and click "Send Request". A person can also send the URL to Homemetry via email at removalshomemetry@homemetry.com.
The profile should be removed from the site within 48 hours.
What Difficulties Exist when Opting Out of Homemetry
The property information indexed by Homemetry is aggregated from multiple public sources. Therefore, opting out of the site does not remove the data from the primary source and other third-party sites. As such, persons who have to send requests for each site or source may find the entire process difficult and stressful.
Also, because the information remains publicly available, the site may recall the data in the future. It is not uncommon for removed property records to reappear in subsequent search results as long as they are still available from other public sources.
Plus, members of the public can find multiple personal or real property profiles. The site only allows the removal of one record at a time. Therefore, each listing will have to be removed separately.
